TAVARES, Florida — Tavares Police Department investigating the shooting of a teenager Sunday afternoon, according to TPD Lt. Sarah Coursey.
A 19-year-old man was walking in the area of Winn Dixie, 450 East Burleigh Boulevard and St. Clair Abrams Avenue around 1:30 p.m. when a single shot was fired, striking him in the back, Coursey told Lake Legal News. He was airlifted to a local hospital.
Witnesses told police they saw a Hispanic male in a dark vehicle and “It does not appear to be random,” Coursey said.
