DeLAND, Florida — A 30-year-old man stabbed his grandfather to death and cut his ears off in the DeLand area of Lake County Saturday night, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release Sunday.

Kolby Allen Parker reported to LCSO deputies his 77-year-old grandfather, Ronal Wells Sr. attacked him with a knife after a confrontation while they were smoking marijuana at the home they shared at 44721 Lake Mack Road.

Parker told deputies he disarmed Wells and stabbed his grandfather, who was found dead on the front porch with multiple stab wounds.

“While talking with responding deputies, Parker produced two human ears from his pants pocket, which were later discovered to be those of the decedent,” LCSO Lt. John Herrell said in the release.

After pulling his grandfather’s ears from his pocket, Parker began fighting deputies and attempting to disarm them; he was taken into custody and arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting with violence.

Detectives executed a search warrant and found a bloody baseball bat in the corner of the porch, a butcher knife on the table and blood on the kitchen floor, the release states.

Parker later confessed to beating his grandfather in the head with the baseball bat, stabbing him multiple times with the butcher knife and cutting his ears off. He told detectives he wanted his grandfather to be with his deceased grandmother.

In addition to the charges involving deputies, Parker is facing a second-degree murder charge. He is being held in the Lake County Jail on no bond.
