ASTOR, Florida – One person is dead following a crash on State Road 40 Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 7:45 a.m. near Gustafson Road, said FHP Lt. Kim Montes in a press release. Johnny Miller, 49, of Ocala was driving eastbound on SR 40 in a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe when he entered westbound lane in a curve, hitting a 2012 Honda Fit head on, causing it to overturn. The driver of the Honda Fit was killed. Miller was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital with serious injuries.
FHP has not released the name of the victim, pending identification confirmation.
