LEESBURG, Florida — A Leesburg man racked up his second arrest this week after he would not stop questioning a trespass warning he received several months ago; he was arrested for disorderly conduct Thursday at the Leesburg Police Department.
Just before noon Thursday, Leesburg Police officers responded to the lobby of the Leesburg Police Department, 115 East Magnolia Street in reference to a disturbance, according to an arrest affidavit. Dispatchers told the responding officers Jerry Lee Ellis, 39, had called dispatch several times and came into the lobby questioning a trespass warning. Ellis was given advice and left. The arresting officer noted he had given Ellis advice several times in the past.
Around 1:30 p.m. Ellis came back and asked records staff questions about the trespass warning. After he was given advice by the records staff, he called dispatch and again asked for advice. Dispatch told Ellis to stop calling; he then hung up and called back at least two more times, the affidavit states.
Dispatch requested officers come to the lobby again and handle the situation. The arresting officer asked Ellis if he needed help and he again asked questions about the trespass warning. He was given advice again and escorted off the property.
At 1:47 p.m. Ellis returned for a third time and picked up the lobby phone and hung up on a dispatcher. When officers arrived Ellis was yelling at the records staff. Officers placed him under arrest and charged him with disorderly conduct. He is being held at the Lake County Jail on no bond.
Ellis was previously arrested Tuesday for misuse of 911. In that case, Ellis called 911 and the Leesburg Police Department administrative line 13 times in 16 minutes stating he needed a refill on his medication. Officers responded to Ellis’ home, where he demanded a ride to LifeStream to get a refill on his medication, according to that arrest report. Ellis did not meet Baker Act criteria and he was arrested for misuse of 911. He was released Wednesday on that charge on $1,000 bond.
