GRAND ISLAND, Florida — A Grand Island man upset he could no longer verbally harass his mother, scratched her car and flooded the house he shares with her Sunday.
According to an arrest report, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Helen Drive in reference to a domestic disturbance. The arresting deputy noted in the arrest affidavit LCSO had been to the home numerous times on Saturday and Sunday due to continuous disturbances between the pair.
When the arresting deputy arrived, he made contact with the victim, and she told the deputy her son, Keith Clyrone Roberts 29, had continued to harass her each time deputies left. She finally left the residence to stay with a friend and get away from Roberts, the affidavit states.
After she left, Roberts texted her and told her the house was flooded. She contacted a neighbor who shut the water off and told her there was about a quarter of an inch of water throughout the house.
The deputy spoke with Roberts, who told him he did not intend to flood the house, but he did unhook the plumbing under the kitchen sink to, “anger his mother,” since he could not harass her verbally since she left the home. He told the deputy he was angry at his mother because she told him he needed to find another place to live and she was tired of taking care of him while he was in school. Roberts said each time the deputy left, he fully intended to keep harassing his mother in any way he could. The deputy suggested numerous times Roberts should stay somewhere else so things could calm down, but he repeatedly refused, the affidavit states. He reiterated he fully intended to annoy his mother in any way possible.
While the arresting deputy was speaking with Roberts, his mother and another deputy found scratches on her car, causing approximately $5,000 in damage.
Roberts was charged with stalking and felony criminal mischief. He was taken to the Lake County Jail where he is being held on $7,000 bond.
